The short version
- Your measurements stay on your device. Every calculator is plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript that runs in your browser. The numbers you type are not transmitted to us and are not stored by us.
- No cookies, no analytics, no tracking. This site does not set cookies, does not run an analytics package and does not load third-party scripts, fonts or images.
- No account, no newsletter, no profiling. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing about you to hold.
- Contact is by email only, and only if you choose to write to us. See contact.
This policy uses the terms of the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. It is written to describe what this site genuinely does, not what a template says a site usually does.
What the calculators do with your input
Nothing leaves your browser. When you type measurements into a calculator, the JavaScript in the page works out the result on your own device. There is no server round-trip, no form submission and no API call — you can confirm this yourself by loading any calculator and watching the page work with your network connection switched off. Because no personal data is sent anywhere by the calculators, there is no processing of your measurements for us to describe, and no lawful basis is needed for it.
What the site itself may record
We do not collect personal data through this website. There is one exception worth stating honestly: as with any website, the web server that delivers these pages will normally keep a standard access log recording things like the IP address that made a request, the page requested and the time. Those logs are generated by the hosting itself, are used for keeping the site running and secure, and are not used by us to identify individual visitors, to build profiles or for marketing.
We do not use that information to contact you and we do not combine it with anything else.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own. There is no cookie banner here because there is nothing to consent to. If that ever changes — for example if an analytics service is added — this page will say so plainly, and any non-essential cookies will only be set with your consent as the UK rules require.
Analytics and advertising
There is currently no analytics package on this site and no advertising. No behavioural or advertising networks are used, and no data is shared with anyone for marketing purposes.
Affiliate and price-comparison links
There are currently no live affiliate or price-comparison links on this site: the merchant names you may see on a calculator page are inactive placeholders, not links. If tracked links are added in future, clicking one would take you to a retailer's website, and that retailer may then set its own cookies or process your data under its own privacy policy, which we do not control. The affiliate disclosure explains how those links would be marked. Any change to how links work will be reflected here before it happens.
Contacting us, and what happens to your message
The only way to send us personal data is to email us, and only if you choose to. If you do, we will hold your message and your email address for as long as it takes to deal with your query, and then for a reasonable period afterwards in case you reply. We will not add you to any list, and we will not pass your details to anyone else. See the contact page for how to get in touch — that page carries a clearly marked placeholder, because the contact address is not live yet.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you have the right to:
- be told what personal data we hold about you and to ask for a copy of it (a subject access request);
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- ask us to erase data we hold about you;
- object to, or ask us to restrict, certain processing;
- complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you believe your data has been handled improperly.
In practice, because this site collects no personal data through the calculators, the only data we could hold about you is an email you have chosen to send us. Requests can be made using the route on the contact page. The ICO is the UK's independent data protection regulator and can be reached at ico.org.uk.
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller for this site is the person or business that operates ProjectCalc. Those operating details are not finalised yet and are therefore not published; they will be added here before the site goes live.
Not yet published: the controller's trading name and any registration details will appear here, alongside a working contact route, before launch.
Changes to this policy
If what the site does changes — the first live affiliate link, the first line of analytics, the first third-party embed — this page will be updated to describe the new position accurately and truthfully at the same time, and the date below will change.
